“It is therefore Jesus Christ Himself who is the source as well as the object of the liturgy; and hence the ecclesiastical year, which we have undertaken to explain in this work, is neither more nor less than the manifestation of Jesus Christ and His mysteries, in the Church and in the faithful soul.”
— Abbot Guéranger, O.S.B.
Here, you will find free audio recordings of selections from The Liturgical Year by Servant of God, Dom Prosper Guéranger (1805-75). The goal of The Guéranger Project is to make The Liturgical Year as accessible as possible, and thereby encourage Catholics in the deepening of their faith and in their love for the liturgy.
The recordings are presented in the order in which they appear in The Liturgical Year. Since Dom Guéranger was writing in the 19th century, his commentaries follow the liturgical calendar and texts of that time, which continue to be used today in the Traditional Roman Rite.
